God is Speaking to You – Here’s How

John 14:11-12

(Jesus says) “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me– just as the Father knows me and I know the Father–and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep. They too will listen to my voice, My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

I said

The next area that I want us to look at is essential subject in order to move in the power of the Holy Spirit and to seek breakthrough that the Lord is declaring for 2017.

It is the Christian advantage and the very basis of our connection with the Lord.

It’s an area that brings us confidence and security in the very daily issues of life.

And yet it is rarely appropriated in the full measure that the Lord has purpose for the Christian.

We began our series

    How to Hear God

                       &

         Knowing God’s Will   

                      

Our goal is To move from

“Can you hear me now?”

to

                        “You Can hear me  Now”

Over the years  the No. 1 area I deal with in counseling is requests about God’s will
Questions like

• “Does God really speak to us”
•  “What does the Lord want me to do?”
• “Is this of the Lord?”
• “Is God wanting me to do / not do this?”
• “Is this the Lord, me, or the devil?”
• “What is God saying?”
• “What is God’s highest for me?”
• “How do I hear God?”

90% of people regularly feel that it’s difficult to hear God

 

98% of people say sometimes it’s not clear whose voice their hearing

100% of the people have had difficulty determining His will at times

Some Reasons why people don’t hear God

• They don’t know how to listen
• Unfamiliar how God speaks
• They don’t know how God sounds
• Fear
• Inadequacy-unworthy
• Blockages (sin, disobedience, unforgiveness ,only want to hear their answer )
• They don’t give God an opportunity
• They do not know God desires to speak
• They don’t realize God speaks in many ways

Bottom Line in Receiving from the Lord

God Knows Best

Good is  one too many  0

Ps 25:4-5 Show me your ways , O Lord, teach me your paths;

guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Prov 3:5-6   Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;   in all your ways acknowledge him,

Isa 55:8-9   “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,“  declares the Lord.   “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways  and my thoughts than your thoughts.

 

Hearing and Knowing

God’s Will  is  Essential

Each Day ( not just on Sunday)

•   Hearing God is essential for
• Direction in life
• Relationships
• Knowing God’s will
• Ministry
• Receiving God’s “Favor”
• Answers to prayer

 

Warning !!

The enemy is at work to confound the process and to rob you

• Let me set the stage

• His purpose  towards you is to:
• Distract (confusion, noise, business look at today)
• Distort  ( manipulation of truth)
• Discourage (overwhelmed, timing)

which brings about…

Disconnection (question, doubt, fear, insecurity, timidity) (read)

That’s why DISCERNMENT AND HEARING GOD is  very important for the days ahead

Last week

God’s Word  on His Direction (to you-personally)

• The Word says His voice will be
• Personal  (not just general) (logo and rhema)
• Clear (not confusing)
• Correct   (not full of mistakes)
• Unfolding ( not the whole picture)
• Continual (will never stop)

The Lord wants to release His will daily and direct YOU  in the details of your  life.
Today
John 10: 27-28

(Jesus said)

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can take them away from me.

Hearing God

John 10: 1,5-6

My sheep hear my voice  they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

John 10:14

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me

• When you know someone you know what they sound like (husband wife, child, friend acquaintance) “Voice recognition”
• When you know someone you know how they act and respond(their mannerism)
• Even when they deliver a vocal or written message from someone else, You know that it’s them.

It’s a “learned process…

from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. God shines forth. Our God comes and will not be silent

Phil 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose

. Ps 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD

and he will give you the desires of your heart.

1 John 2:17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

2 Tim 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness

 

• The Bible

2 Tim 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Ps 119:133 Direct my footsteps according to your word;

Now choose life … and love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and follow His directions. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you the increase He has promised to you…
