  • And God confirms His Word by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
  • “All this I have spoken while still with you.  But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
  • But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not    speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
  •  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

There are 3 Categories of  Spirits

Holy Spirit    Human Spirit    Evil Spirit

We’re looking at

Characteristics of a Victorious Christian in the next move of God

One of those characteristic is

A victorious Christian will need to know how to:  Deal with the enemy

1 Peter 5:8-9 Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith

James 4:7 Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

2 Cor 2:11 We are to  know very well what Satan’s plans are.

Luke 21:8 He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’

Matt 24:24-25 Your enemies  will try to fool even the people God has chosen, if that is possible.  Now I have warned you about this before it happens.

2 Cor 11:14-15 Even Satan changes himself to look like an angel of light (truth).

Remember:

We don’t fight for victory we fight from victory

 

The enemy is not trying to attack God’s throne

He’s trying to steal yours

We’re not finished with the enemy  until we finish him

Luke 10:19

Jesus said, ..I have given you authority …to overcome all the power of the enemy

I said ..

“If you don’t take authority…

You are giving authority”

In order to see the BREAKTHROUGH in the Physical Realm

You have to BREAKTHROUGH in  the Spiritual Realm

(It’s all Spiritual”)

Jesus said

Matt 6:9-10

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,   your kingdom come(spiritual)

your will be done on earth (physical)

as it is in heaven (spiritual)

Just as we have to become knowledgeable of the enemy

We have to become  knowledgeable of the Holy Spirit

 

John 16: 13-14

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not    speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

 Revealing the methods Of the Holy Spirit

  •   The  enemy  comes to limit you

  • The Holy Spirit comes to release you

The Holy Spirit comes to encourage, to edify to uplift

He will never condemn discourage or limit

1 Cor 15:57

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Phil 4:13

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Rom 8:37-38

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Your barriers are  God’s Doorways

 

  • the enemy comes to limit God

  • The Holy Spirit comes to reveal God

In the garden.. God was limiting man His plan is to cause you to doubt God

The Holy Spirit comes to reveal God’s majesty and love

Zech 4:6

‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

Jer 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

1 Cor 2:9

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived

what God has prepared for those who love him”

  • The enemy comes to rob you

  • The Holy Spirit comes to increase you

The Holy Spirit always comes to bring faith beyond your ability

The enemy can’t take anything we don’t give to him.

Luke 17:5-6 The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”

The Lord answered, “If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this tree, ‘May you be uprooted and thrown into the sea,’ and it would obey you!

John 10:10  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Phil 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

  • The enemy wants to undermine your future

  • The Holy Spirit wants to underline your future

Only God knows the future-not the devil

Enemy will try to convince you it’s set (look at the your circumstances and past)

The Lord wants you to see your future through His Word

Jer 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart (unique)

Rom 8:29 God knew you his people and had already appointed them to be like His Son

Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God establishes our future the devil can only try to change it

 

  • The enemy wants to direct man’s ways

  • The Holy Spirit wants to reinforce God’s ways

Enemy’s ways

Look out for self (unholy trinity: me, myself and I)

Hold on to everything or you’ll lose it.

Revenge on your enemies (unforgiveness, anger resentment)

Pride, selfishness, greed

God’s ways

Love never fails, love your neighbor as yourself

Forgive an pray for those that harm you

Give and you will receive

Matt 6:33  But seek first his kingdom and his ways and all things will be given to you

“God’ said it, I believe it ,that settles it”

 

  • The enemy wants to ruin your now

  • The Holy Spirit wants to bless your now

What we do now (today) affects our future

Both God and the devil know:

What we do today becomes

Our past and our past

Affects our future

God helps us in our “now”

So our past can’t rob our future

Ps 37:23 23 The Lord directs the daily steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.

Ps.90:14,17

 

  • The enemy wants you to speak death

  • The Holy Spirit wants you to speak life

Life and death in the tongue

You can curse yourself and others

Prov 18: 21 The tongue has the power of life and death,

Here’s another aspect

Jesus said “ I have come to GIVE life (zoe- abundant hope filled exciting, dynamic) John 10:10

Then He says- GIVE what I have given YOU Lk 6:38  (peace, joy, hope…)

WE have the ability to give life by our words

(people, marriages, society anywhere there is death)

Words not only speak life…They give life

  • The enemy wants to undermine your future

  • the enemy wants to conceal the Bible

    The Holy Spirit want’s to reveal the Bible

The Enemy.. The Bible is:
Past history- man’s interpretation
Irrelevant- primitive, not pertinent for today
Confining- no room for man’s evolving (individually, socially,world view).

The Holy Spirit.. The Bible is:
Infallible (2 Tm 3:16- God Breathed- Inspired by the Holy Spirit)
Relevant- Heb 4:12- The Word of God is active and alive. 2Tm 3:17 produces servants of God who are “thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Powerful- Rev. 12:11They defeated the enemy by the Word of their testimony (Word of God)
Everlasting- Mat. 24:35 Heaven and Earth will pass away but my word will remain
“A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” Charles Spurgeon

  • The enemy wants to separate you from God

    The Holy Spirit wants to connect you with God

Enemy:
Garden of Eden- Gen 3:3-12 Rebell against God (separation) Results- OT- today
Atheist, Communism- outfight denial
Other religions- Buddhism, Islam (Allah ), Hinduism, Paganism
Holy Spirit:
Jn 15:4- Live in me and I will live in you
Mat. 11:28 Come to me and I will give you rest
Heb. 13:11 I will never leave you or forsake you
John 10:11-12 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
1 Cor. 10:31- Do all things for the glory of God
Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ Intimacy- “in to me see”

  • The enemy wants to neutralize your witness (general)

         The Holy Spirit wants to maximize your witness

All Christians have been called to witness (be an example)

Matt 5:13-16  “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? .. “You are the light of the world. Do not put your put it under a bowl…

The enemy wants to rob our witness (politically correct, be sensitive to others views, politically correct)

Jesus said Mat 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Phil 2:15-16  become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16 as you hold out the word of life

1 Peter 3:15 Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

“Nice Christianity is a powerful tool of the enemy”

  • The enemy wants to decrease your ministry

  • The Holy Spirit wants to increase your ministry

All Christians  are to witness.. Spirit filled Christians know they have a ministry

Acts 1:8 Your will receive power after the Holy Spirit has infilled you (BHS)

The enemy must try to neutralize that power

Luke 10:19  I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy;

Gifts of the Holy Spirit (ministry  tools)- Gift of faith, gift of healing, working of miracles, discerning of spirits, prophecy, tongues, interpretation of tongues, word of knowledge, word of wisdom.

Our ministry is to function in the power and the authority of the Holy Spirit to advance the
Kingdom of God

God’s Word-     A Christian moving in their gifts is  invincible

(“no weapon, I can do, my God shall supply, greater is He” etc.. )

 Revealing the methods Of the Holy Spirit

  • The Holy Spirit come to release you- Your barriers are  God’s Doorways

  • The Holy Spirit comes to reveal God- Your revelation of God determines your victory through God

  • The Holy Spirit comes to increase you- God’s increase in you is the enemy’s  decrease through you

  • The Holy Spirit wants to underline your future- God establishes our future the devil can only try to change it

  • The Holy Spirit wants to reinforce God’s ways- “God’ said it, I believe it ,that settles it”

  • The Holy Spirit wants to bless your now

  • The Holy Spirit wants you to speak life

  • The Holy Spirit want’s to reveal the Bible

  • The Holy Spirit wants to connect you with God–  Intimacy- “in to me see”

  • The Holy Spirit wants to maximize your witness–“Nice Christianity is a powerful tool of the enemy”

  • The Holy Spirit wants to increase your ministry- God’s Word-A Christian moving in their gifts is  invincible
