Luke 2:10-14

For  to us a child is born, for  we have been given a son, and he will rule over the nations. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. And of his rule there will be no end. He will reign  over his kingdom, and he will rule with honesty and justice forever.

* the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy … Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

This promise of Jesus was given (750 years before Christ’s birth)

When God gives a promise

He intends to keep it

“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

Jesus releases the

What is Christmas?

  • Giving gifts
  • Traditions
  • Decorations
  • Food
  • Special music
  • Gatherings with friends and family
  • Making memories
  • All of the above

 

The true meaning of Christmas is

A “celebration” of Christ

A celebration because God so desired  to re-establish relationship with mankind that he left heaven to tell us how much he loved us

Christmas is God come to man so that man could come to God

Jesus is “God’s promise to us”

and He came so we may live in His promise

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

 

In order see God’s provision in 2017

We must approach it with

God’s Promise to us this Christmas is we can look with Confidence to 2017

Phil 1:6 being CONFIDENT in this that He who began His plan for your life in Him will complete it

John 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will empower you and teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you

God’s gift of Promise to us this Christmas is

           we can be confident

                      For 2017

God’s Promise for
2017 is  ..

He will be available   Jere 33:3.. Call unto me..

He will guide our decisions Isa 30:21… “this the way you should go”

He will protect us and ours Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble

He will provide   Phillip 4:19 Provide all your needs

He will turn all challenges to blessings Rom 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose

He will draw us closer to Him James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you

He will never leave us or forsake us  Heb 13:5  “I will never leave you nor forsake you

His Grace towards us will be without measure in 2017

2 Cor 9: 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will be successful in all that you do.

He has not forgotten the promises He’s given

Jere 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to give you a future filled with hope
